As i stare in your eyes
The tears swell up in mine
As i fully come to realize
That it will soon be your time
I hold you oh so close
So you can hear my heartbeat
So you can come to know me
And know that my love for you is concrete
I watch you sleep in your crib
As you lay so sweet and innocent
My heart starts breaking
Knowing how soon your mind will be bent
I watch you as you grow
So fast and yet so slow
Teenager now..How you’ve grown
The reality of this life starts to show
Your once trusting heart
As that innocent sweet baby
Is shattered and broken
As you realize life is shady
